Hours of operation over the festive season

Henderson Waste Recovery Park will be closed on Christmas Day (Thursday 25 December 2025) and New Year's Day (Thursday 1 January 2026). It will be open all other days during the festive season per the hours listed below.

  • Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm
  • Closed on weekends and all public holidays.

Accepted commercial waste types

The Henderson Waste Recovery Park accepts the following commercial waste streams. Some waste types require prior approval.

Mixed solid waste and green waste

Includes mixed putrescible waste and commercial green waste.

Commercial and industrial waste
Includes manufacturing waste, packaging, timber, steel and general industrial materials.
Construction and demolition waste

Includes concrete, bricks, tiles, timber, steel and demolition materials.

Contaminated waste (Class I, II and III)

Contaminated waste must be assessed and classified in accordance with Landfill Waste Classification and Waste Definitions 1996 (as amended 2019) from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.

HWRP accepts:

  • Class I
  • Class II
  • Class III
  • Contaminated soils where approved
  • Waste requiring special handling such as dusty or wet loads.
Biosecurity waste

Accepted for burial when managed in line with Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry requirements. Bookings are required.

Burials and secure burials

Includes:

  • Biosecurity burials
  • Non-biosecurity burials
  • Secure or deep burials.

A certificate of burial can be issued on request.

Inert waste

Includes clean fill, rubble, soil, sand and other non-putrescible materials.

Disposal of contaminated, biosecurity and special waste

Some commercial waste streams require assessment and approval before they can be delivered to the Henderson Waste Recovery Park.

Step 1: Waste assessment

Contaminated, biosecurity and special waste streams must be classified in line with DWER requirements before acceptance.

The classification document can be accessed on the DWER website:

  • Landfill Waste Classification and Waste Definitions 1996 (as amended 2019)
  • DWER Waste and Recycling (general guidance).
Step 2: Submit a Waste Approval Application

Commercial operators must complete a Waste Approval Request Form below and provide the following where applicable:

  • Laboratory analysis reports
  • MSDS documents
  • Photographs
  • Supporting classification documents.

Allow at least 48 hours for processing.

Step 3: Receive a Waste Approval Number

Once approved, a Waste Approval Number will be issued. This must be quoted at the weighbridge and when booking deliveries.

Step 4: Deliver waste to HWRP

Operators must:

  • Attend during weighbridge operating hours
  • Follow all site entry conditions
  • Declare any mattresses, tyres or additional items at arrival.

Conditions of entry

Commercial operators must follow all conditions of entry when accessing the Henderson Waste Recovery Park:

  • Safety boots and hi-vis must be worn at all times
  • A beacon must be fitted and active while onsite
  • A two-way radio set to Channel 39 is required
  • Treat employees respectfully
  • Aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in refusal of entry
  • No smoking onsite
  • Follow posted speed limits
  • Any undeclared items such as tyres or mattresses will be added and charged
  • Illegal dumping including asbestos will be reported to authorities.

Please note:

  • The Henderson Waste Recovery Park is a cashless site
  • Payment methods accepted include EFTPOS, credit card and approved commercial accounts
  • All fees must be paid at the weighbridge unless prior account arrangements exist.
