Rebate overview

The 2027 round of Sustainable Home Rebates will open in January 2027.

The City of Cockburn offers a Sustainable Home Rebate to help households reduce energy and water use, lower utility bills and cut greenhouse gas emissions. Eligible residents can claim rebates on a range of approved sustainable home products, with up to $500 available per household.

This program supports practical, affordable upgrades that improve home energy efficiency and contribute to a more sustainable community.

Rebate terms and conditions

Eligibility

To be eligible for the rebate, you must:

  1. Live in the City of Cockburn.
  2. Read and accept the program Terms and Conditions.
  3. Be the property owner, an agent authorised to act on behalf of the owner, or a tenant with signed consent from the property owner or authorised agent.
  4. Complete a Sustainable Home Consult (Home Eco Audit) before purchasing, booking, installing or commencing any rebate item that requires a consult. 
  5. Use a licenced installer where required by law.
  6. Purchase and install the rebate item during the current financial year.
  7. Provide proof of payment showing the account has been paid in full.
  8. Provide any further supporting documentation requested by the City to verify eligibility.
Important:
For rebate items that require a Sustainable Home Consult:
  • The consult must be completed before the item is purchased, ordered, installed, booked or commenced.
  • Retrospective approvals will not be granted.
  • Items purchased or installed before the consult are not eligible for a rebate.
Rebate amounts
  • The maximum rebate amount available per household throughout the life of the program is $500 per property.
  • Applicants may claim multiple eligible items up to the maximum rebate amount.
  • Rebate amounts are fixed and will not exceed the published rebate value for each item.
The rebate does not cover freight, delivery, installation, labour, permits, disposal costs, maintenance, finance charges or other ancilliary costs unless specifically stated in the rebate schedule.
Funding availability
  • Applications are open from January 2027 until allocations have been exhausted.
  • Rebates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Submission of an applicant does not guarantee funding.
  • The City reserves the right to close the program once available funding has been exhausted.
Application steps

Step 1: Check eligibility

  • Review the eligibility requirements and rebate item criteria before making any purchases.

Step 2: Sustainable Home Consult (if required)

  • Where listed as a requirement, applicants must complete a Sustainable Home Consult before purchasing, booking, installing or commencing the rebate item.
  • Items requiring a consult that are purchased or installed before the consult has been delivered will not be eligible for funding.

Step 3:  Obtain Quotes

  • For higher-value purchases, applicants are encouraged to obtain multiple quotes to ensure good value for money.

Step 4: Purchase and install

  • Purchase the item and arrange installation where required.
  • Keep all invoices and receipts as proof of purchase and payment.
  • The City will not provide rebates for deposits, partially paid invoices, estimates or quotes.

Step 5: Submit Application

  • Complete the Rebate Application Form, including proof of payment in forms of receipts and invoices showing $0 owing and proof of installation in the form of photos of the products in use or installed.
  • Applicants are encouraged to provide a recent relevant utility bill to assist the City in evaluating program outcomes.

Step 6: Receive your rebate

  • If approved, rebate payments will be transferred to the nominated bank account. Please allow up to eight weeks for processing.
General conditions
The City of Cockburn:
  • May request additional information to verify eligibility;
  • May refuse applications that do not meet eligibility requirements;
  • Reserves the right to vary, suspend or cancel the program at any time;
  • Is not responsible for the quality, performance or installation of products purchased through this program; and
  • May contact applicants after installation to evaluate program outcomes.
