Cockburn Parenting Service
Cockburn Parenting Service is a free service for families living in the City of Cockburn with children from birth to 18 years years old.
We provide practical advice, emotional support, parenting information and strategies to help parents and carers navigate the challenges of raising children from early childhood through to adolescence.
How we can support you
Cockburn Parenting Service offers support and information on:
- the everyday challenges of parenting
- understanding child development and behaviour
- attachment and how to build a strong, connected relationship with your child
- emotional regulation, resilience and helping your child cope with big feelings
- setting limits and maintaining boundaries
- use of technology and online safety
- parenting during the t(w)eens years
- accessing local services and community networks
How support is provided
Support is available through a range of options, including:
- multi-session programs, singe session workshops and events
- parent support groups for example Sing and Play Supported Playgroup, My Time (Aboriginal parent/grandparent group) and Women of the World
- individual support

- Bringing up great kids for various age groups
- Circle of security parenting
- Early start screen smart
- Tuning in to kids
- Tuning in to teens
- Engaging adolescents
Part of the South West Metropolitan Parenting Service
The South West Metropolitan Parenting Service (SWMPS) is a partnership between the Cockburn Parenting Service (City of Cockburn), Kwinana Early Years (KEYS) and Meerilinga Parenting Service, providing parenting support to families living in Cockburn, Fremantle, East Fremantle, Melville, Kwinana and Rockingham.
Cockburn Parenting Service provides local support for Cockburn families and eligible parents and carers across the SWMPS region.
