Friday 7 August:
Hungry Jacks and KFC will open new shopfronts in a long-awaited Hammond Park shopping centre development, after the two popular fast food outlets gained planning approval.

A Cockburn local picked up a cool $10,000 as part of a competition run by viral fro-yo chain Yo-Chi - and reignited a passion for a childhood pastime that provides plenty of stress relief.

Cockburn based businesses Hyperion Solutions and Alba Edible Oils are among 23 finalists in the WA Innovators of the Year awards for 2026.  
 
Thursday 6 August:
A crop of dedicated Turtle Trackers new and old are preparing to volunteer across 10 lakes in the City of Cockburn for the imminent 2026-27 turtle nesting season.

Wednesday 5 August:
A healthy range of conservation and locally significant fauna have been recorded in independent surveys held in City of Cockburn conservation reserves. 

Outer Perth suburbs are leading the way for postcodes with the most home battery installations over the past year. Local government areas with a big uptick in home batteries installed this year include Cockburn with 1,660 installs.

A major emergency is unfolding as a car engulfed in flames on Kwinana Freeway causes traffic chaos heading northbound towards the city. A lane of traffic at Bibra Lake is blocked, with traffic heavy back to Berrigan Drive.

Monday 3 August:
West Australian councils could soon get the green light to force roaming cats indoors — but right now, a pet’s freedom depends entirely on which council it lives in. Local Government Minister Hannah Beazley announced plans to change the law to allow local councils to introduce cat containment laws in February.
