Friday 19 June:
Cockburn Council has delayed a decision to close dozens of trails in Manning Park after community members and several councillors argued users had not been consulted adequately.

The issue with Manning Park is not that there are trails, nor that there are people using the trails; it’s the sheer number of trails that dissect the bushland - ‘Thinking Allowed’ opinion by The Friends of Manning Park Ridge.


Thursday 18 June:
A contentious $60m redevelopment of the 50-year-old Wally Hagan Basketball Stadium is a step closer after Cockburn council voted last week to go ahead with the plan.

Stage one of the Hamilton Hill project comprises development of six new courts, including retention of the stadium’s four existing courts, plus a health club and community spaces.

Perth is shivering through the coldest morning of the year and one of the chilliest in three years. Jandakot registered a near-freezing 0.5C early on Thursday while Dwellingup and Gingin were had a blistering in 0.7C.

Ange Stannett has been re-elected by her peers as Fremantle captain for a third AFLW season. Gabby Newton steps into the vice-captain role, while defender Emma O’Driscoll has been elevated to deputy vice-captain. 
In May, the Fremantle Dockers and the City of Cockburn announced all the Club’s AFL Women’s home matches would be played at its Cockburn headquarters, at Cockburn ARC Oval, for the 2026 NAB AFLW Season.
