Friday 1 May:
The City of Cockburn has four entries in the 2026 National Awards for Local Government. Entries include the C.Y. O’Connor engineered fringing reef, our Baby Makes 3 program, and the Malabar Park BMX redevelopment.

The State government will deliver a $24.1m upgrade to South Metropolitan TAFE's Munster campus, with upgrades to support an estimated 840 annual enrolments in training in wind and alternative energy, battery technology, electrification, automation, and robotics.
It is part of more than $216 million in the 2026-27 State Budget for TAFE, training and employer incentives.

Wednesday 29 April:
Following a $1.05m project at Success Regional Sporting and Community Facility, it now has eight lighting towers capable of illuminating its 20 resurfaced courts.

A $700,000 lighting upgrade at the Success Netball Association HQ was made possible with a WA Government $178,000 Club Light Nights Program grant and a $100,000 election commitment.
The City of Cockburn provided the remaining $422,000 for the lighting project plus $350,000 to resurface the courts.

Fremantle midfielder Nathan O’Driscoll has bravely opened up about his battle with anxiety, revealing he had contemplated taking his own life in the midst of “deep depressive states”.
The 23-year-old, who has played 40 games across six seasons at the Dockers, said he felt it was the right time to speak up about his own experience in a bid to help others going through their own mental health challenges.

Saturday 25 April:
Local governments are organising tree planting subsidies and giveaways in May, and have a renewed focus on dealing with a dangerous infestation threatening WA’s native trees.

Throughout May, Cockburn residents can access a 50 per cent discount on up to 20 native plants to plant in their gardens.

Jandakot residents who were drinking water from bores contaminated by “forever chemicals” have been rocked by new research showing health impacts that can be passed on to future generations.


Concerns are growing over “forever chemicals” in tap water after new research linked them to generational impacts on female fertility.
