Friday 24 April:
Our 25th annual ANZAC Youth Parade attracted about 1,300 students from Cockburn schools on Wednesday, with RSL City of Cockburn Sub-branch Patron and parade founder Arthur Stanton OAM interviewed by ABC Radio for the proud occasion. Listen to the interview from 2:16:58.

Thursday 23 April:
The WA Government has signed a partnership with the Fremantle Dockers to promote awareness of career opportunities in the State’s defence industry.

The agreement focuses on community engagement and workforce pathways, using the club’s reach to connect people with defence-related initiatives.

A 200m metal fence in Banjup has been denied retrospective approval after it was found inconsistent with local rural zoning requirements.
Council cited concerns that the fence did not align with rural planning provisions, including its scale, materials and visual impact on the surrounding area as well as the ability of native fauna to pass through the fence.

Plans for upgrades at Tempest Park have been proposed, with three concept options for new or improved facilities to support growing community use.

Wednesday 22 April:
Noongar Wongi rapper Inkabee, who performed with his rapper dad Flewnt (Josh Eggington) at our 2025 Spring Fair at Manning Park, made history last month.
The Year 9 Gilmore College student became the youngest artist featured on triple j’s popular segment Like A Version.


The Gate Bar & Bistro at Cockburn Gateway Shopping City were among the first to take part in a Feral Brewing promotion enabling punters to buy a schooner of beer for the price of two litres of petrol.

Monday 20 April:
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car while crossing four lanes with his dog in Hamilton Hill.

Police allege a silver Toyota Corolla was driving in a southerly direction on Rockingham Rd in Hamilton Hill about 9.15pm Sunday when the car tried to cross four lanes, hitting a pedestrian.

Sunday 19 April:
Dog owners in Cockburn have received a cheeky reminder from the council to pick up after their furry friends, while other local councils are dealing with a Statewide dog poo bag shortage.


Australia’s largest Anzac youth parade and service is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a march through Cockburn.

Saturday 18 April:
Australia and Japan have announced they've signed a multi-billion-dollar contract for the first three of Australia's next generation of warships at a ceremony aboard a Mogami frigate anchored in Melbourne.

The first three vessels will be built in Japan, but production of the next eight frigates will shift to the Henderson shipyard in Perth, Western Australia, where they will be constructed by Australian firm Austal.
