Mosaic Multicultural Festival to celebrate diversity in Cockburn

10APRIL2024
The heart of Cockburn will be transformed into a vibrant mosaic of global music, dance and cuisine.

The tapestry of breathtaking diversity and creativity is set to tantalize the senses of attendees and whisk them off to a world of wonder.

The inaugural Mosaic Multicultural Street Festival in the City of Cockburn will take place along Veterans Parade at Cockburn Central from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday 13 April 2024.

Everyone is invited to this FREE evening of multicultural celebration.

Crowds will be delighted with Pipe bands, Carnivale Dancers, Mariachi Bands and Chinese Lion Dancers making up just some of the roaming entertainment on the evening.

There’ll be over 25 global food trucks to explore, and an exciting line up of activities and traditions to participate in.

City of Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said the City is looking forward to putting on the inaugural street festival for the community.

“The City of Cockburn is the most culturally diverse council in Perth’s south metropolitan area, with one in two of our residents coming from a culturally diverse background,” Mayor Howlett said.

“The Mosaic Street Festival is a community-inspired and designed initiative, and I am looking forward to seeing it come to life.”

City of Cockburn Head of Library and Cultural Services, Brittany Cover, said the Cultural Mosaic Multicultural Street Festival was conceptualised by the City’s Multicultural Reference Group who wanted to find a way to celebrate cultural diversity in a large and engaging format.

“Half of our residents are born overseas or have a parent who was born overseas. We have a very diverse City, and this event will show off and celebrate who we are,” said Ms Cover.

“Personally, I am so excited about this street party! I feel like it is really going to transport us to other places. Whether that’s the light, the colours, the performers, or the amazing smells. The buzz will feel like we’ve gone to Brazil or Africa – right here in the heart of Cockburn.”
