The City's response to 6PR about rumoured parking fines issued at South Coogee Primary School, 25.9.25
Question: Rumour has it that the City of Cockburn rangers were out in force yesterday at South Coogee Primary School giving out parking fines to parents and grandparents attending the sports carnival.
Answer: The City of Cockburn’s Parking Services Team attended South Coogee Primary School following a resident complaint about vehicles parked across footpaths, causing an obstruction, during a school event on 24 September.
Four cautions were issued, as parking across footpaths creates a safety hazard, particularly for children walking to and from school.
While infringements are normally issued in such circumstances, cautions were provided on this occasion.
The City reminds parents and carers to park safely and legally, as the City prioritises safety over driver convenience.
The City does liaise with local schools to encourage them to adopt the State Government
Your Move program.
This program provides exclusive offers each year to help schools grow an active community and help inspire more students and families to walk, wheel, scoot and ride to school, particularly on large event days.
The objective is to provide opportunities for schools to access assets like Connecting Schools grants, bike education, Leadership Labs for students and Safe Routes to School access guides.
