Be All In this National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week (27 May-3 June) is an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to consider how we can each contribute to reconciliation.

The 2026 theme, All In, is a call for wholehearted commitment. It reminds us that reconciliation is not a passive process – it requires action from all of us. For too long, the responsibility has fallen disproportionately on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Meaningful progress depends on everyone stepping forward.

We are committed to supporting reconciliation through ongoing learning, connection and action, and this year’s program invites our community to come together to listen, reflect and engage.

The City will mark the week with a range of free events, including:

Join us for a viewing of a 15 minute Ted Talk featuring Sheila Humphries and a 20 minute movie 'We were just little boys'.

There will also be a healing weaving workshop with Sharyn Egan and a morning tea.

Wednesday 27 May 11am Attend the City’s annual flag-raising ceremony.

Features Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by Rev. Mitchell Garlett, didgeridoo musician Tim Kelly and cultural dancing.

Our Reconciliation Week Storytimes will feature a Welcome to Country, Wadumbah Aboriginal Dance Group, Nyungar Story Time - Yaagin Biddi - Turtle Tracks (ages 3-7) and crafts.

Tuesday 2 June Midday-2pm My Time is an Aboriginal Parent Support Group. The group yarns about experiences and learning about family connection over food and friendships.

It's open to Aboriginal families at the Coolbellup Hub on Tuesdays during school terms from midday-2pm. Lunch is provided and free creche for the children. 

Make National Reconciliation Week an opportunity to come along and make new friendships and memories while sharing food, craft and learning about interesting topics.

Tuesday 2 June 10.30-1.30pm Join us for a free, 90-minute guided walk through Bibra Lake with Nyungar Cultural Consultant Cyril Yarran.

Cyril will take you on a ‘Walk on Country for Reconciliation’ through scenic Bibra Lake, educating about the land, flora and fauna while sharing cultural protocols. Cyril is passionate about sharing his knowledge and stories passed down to him. Hear his fascinating stories by registering your place.
