About the event

Have you got clothes, shoes, and accessories you no longer wear? Do you want to know more about being sustainably stylish?

Join us Saturday 11 May at the City's Administration Centre for our Community Clothes Swap and Fashion Exchange!

It’s your chance to update your wardrobe with a good quality pre-loved fashion treasure hunt.

With special guest speaker Loraine Martin, our Feel Good Fashionista, you will walk away from the event with a new outlook on shopping and “new” items in your wardrobe.

Loraine will provide a brief presentation on how to dress more sustainably, shop mindfully and get tips and tricks to help reduce textile waste.

In under two hours, you could have a whole “new” wardrobe for free. All you need to do is bring along quality clothes (clean/no stains/holes/damages/broken zips), shoes, and accessories you don’t wear anymore (any style or season) and exchange them for items you will.

Bring up to five items and take as many as you like. Best of all, it’s free.

What can be included: Clothing, shoes, bags, hats and accessories which are still in great wearable condition. Staff will sort items and quality control to ensure a fair exchange for all.

Check-list prior to the event:

  • Are your items cleaned and free from permanent stains, holes, tears and/or anything that would make it unfit for resell?
  • Underwear, sleepwear, bathers and tired gym clothes will not be accepted.

This event is part of our “Textile Waste Reduction Program” proudly supported by the Government of Western Australia and funded by the Waste Authority – Waste Sorted Program and City of Cockburn.

Sustainability is a key strategic value for the city of Cockburn. The city has identified the following vision statement to ensure sustainability of its waste management services: "To lead and support a community that avoids waste generation, reduces environmental impacts and consider the waste that is produced as a valuable resource to be recovered, reused and recycled."
