In the City's Long Term Financial Plan, there is $9.9 million set aside for the Coogee Golf Complex, should it be deemed viable to go ahead.
Council voted to update the flora and fauna studies and conduct assessments to ensure compliance with relevant Aboriginal Heritage legislation. These studies are required before future steps can be determined.
The proposed Coogee Golf Complex was included in the City of Cockburn Community, Sport and Recreation Plan 2018-2033 which identified that a business case would be developed in 2018, with no further activity identified until 2027-2028.
A business case was developed to undertake a needs assessment and to present options and concepts. Greg Norman Golf Course Designs were contracted for this purpose.
Flora and fauna studies were undertaken on the site to help understand the potential impact of the golf complex. The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation approved groundwater allocation for the site and the Department of Lands approved sub-leasing of the land.
Council approved to undertake a feasibility study to determine the potential for development of a golf course on publicly owned land north of King Street, south of McTaggart Cove, east of Cockburn Road and west of Hamilton Road
