Nicholson Road – road closures and changes to road conditions

The Metropolitan Road Improvement Alliance (MRIA), on behalf of Main Roads is upgrading the 6.9km section of Armadale Road between Tapper Road and Anstey Road from two lanes to a four lane dual carriageway. The upgrade will alleviate current congestion and enhance road safety.

As part of the project, the intersection of Nicholson Road and Armadale Road will be upgraded to a four lane bridge (two in each direction) over a roundabout at Nicholson Road. This will provide a smoother traffic flow in an east-west direction. A temporary roundabout to the north-east of the existing signalled intersection will be constructed to maintain connectivity during construction of the new interchange. To facilitate this, two phases of road closures are required as follows.

Phase 1
Nicholson Road closed between Armadale Road and Rowley Road
9pm Friday 28 September to 9pm Friday 5 October

Phase 2
Nicholson Road and Armadale Road intersection closed
9pm Friday 5 October to 4am Monday 8 October

A series of detours will be operation during these times and speed limits will be reduced within the construction zone. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Please note that weather and other factors may influence timing of these works.
