Phoenix Revitalisation Strategy

About the Phoenix revitalisation strategy

The Phoenix Revitalisation Strategy was adopted by Council in 2009 after extensive community engagement, covering parts of Spearwood and Hamilton Hill within the catchment of the Phoenix Town Centre.  Key aims included:

  • Guiding changes to residential codings (rezonings) to provide opportunities for different housing to meet current and future needs and help meet State Government infill targets.
  • Identifying infrastructure and public realm improvements to support growth, including streetscape improvements, traffic improvements and park upgrades.
  • A framework to support improvements to the Phoenix Town Centre.

Residential codings were changed in 2010 and the City has continued to undertake public realm improvements throughout the area in accordance with the Strategy.

Upgrade to Rockingham Road (Spearwood)

The City is working on plans for a major upgrade to Rockingham Road between Phoenix Road and Coleville Crescent to create a green, tree-lined town centre boulevard. View Road Projects - City of Cockburn - City of Cockburn for the latest.
