Junior Sport Travel Assistance Program

About the Junior Sport Travel Assistance program

The Cockburn Junior Sport Travel Assistance program helps young local athletes by providing financial assistance for travel to state or national competitions.

Who is eligible to apply?

To apply for assistance under this program, applicants must:
  • Be travelling more than 100km outside the City of Cockburn
  • Have been selected by the State or National Sporting body to represent Western Australia or Australia. A clear selection process entitling the person to represent the State or National body must be demonstrated. A letter of selection from that State or National body must accompany the application
  • Be a resident of the City of Cockburn and aged 21 years or younger as of the competition closing date.

Program guidelines

  • Successful applicants will only be eligible for the Junior Sport Travel Assistance program once in any 12-month period. For example, if you receive funding in the March round of the program, you will not be eligible for funding again until the next March round
  • Applications must be made prior to the closing dates for each round
  • Application for assistance may be made up to three months before the date of travel
  • Retrospective applications will not be accepted.

How much funding is available?

Individuals may receive up to a maximum of $400 per successful application. All successful applicants, or a representative, must be available to attend a presentation ceremony to receive their grant.

When and how can I apply for funding?

Applications are accepted throughout the year across four rounds. The closing dates for the rounds are the first Friday of March, June, September and December. A new round opens when the previous one has closed.
