  • Polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB): PSHB has been detected in the City of Cockburn. If you suspect an infestation, report it via MyPestGuide. For advice on identifying shot-hole borer, visit the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) page on Polyphagous shot-hole borer.

  • Do not place more than two cubic metres on the verge

Bulk garden organics placement

Place garden organics neatly in one pile and ensure:

  • Prunings and branches are no longer than 1.5 metres
  • Branches and logs are no wider than 30 centimetres in diameter
  • Large logs are split in half
  • All items are placed one metre back from the kerb.
null

Please DO NOT present more than 2 cubic metres (2m2). Please notify the City if you are combining waste with your neighbours, prior to collection.

Why items must be separated into piles

Each type of material is collected by a different truck. One truck picks up mattresses, another collects metals, another collects e-waste, and a separate contractor collects garden organics. If piles are mixed, items may be left behind or your whole pile may be skipped. Sorting your items ensures safe and efficient collection.

Frequently asked questions

What if I have no verge or very limited frontage?

If you cannot safely place your items on your verge, contact the City for advice before your collection week.

Can I combine waste with my neighbours?

Only if you contact the City beforehand. This ensures items are registered correctly and avoids issues with collection boundaries.

What if I put items out late?

Items placed out after collection has started may not be collected. All customer requests regarding Bulk/Green Waste issues are reviewed using vehicle CCTV. If the verge waste is shown not to be out when your property is serviced, the City will not provide a return service.

Why were some items left behind?

Safety risks, contamination or mixed piles may prevent items from being collected. See this page for accepted and excluded items.

How do I dispose of items not accepted in verge collections?
Visit the Waste Disposal Guide for advice on how to dispose of other items or visit the Recycle Right website.
