Question: Does the City/Town offer a service to mow unkempt household verges where residents can’t or won’t maintain the area themselves?
Answer:
The City provides servicing to an unkempt verge up to 4 times. Request will only be received and actioned when the adjacent property owner contacts the City.

Answer:
  • Evidence the verge is not being maintained by the adjacent property owner
  • Unirrigated
  • Grass height exceeding 150mm
  • Causing a vision hazard for traffic.
Question: Is there any charge to the households?
Answer:
There is currently no cost to the adjacent property owner requesting the service.

Question: What, if any, is the annual budget for 2021-22?
Answer:
The City has set a budget of $65,000 to address unkempt verges adjacent to residential properties.

Question: Is there a growing or lessening need for this service in the community?
Answer:
Requests for the maintenance of unkempt verges is increasing in line with residential development across the City. Property owners are encouraged to maintain the adjacent verge as they do their own property.
