Spearwood dog attacks greyhound

The City of Cockburn's response to 6PR, 10 News and Nine News on 23 March, about the Spearwood dog which attacked a greyhound being walked by a Pets of Older Persons (POOPs) volunteer -

Question: What is the latest with the investigation into the dog attack owner?

Answer: The City is still continuing its investigations, including interviews with the Pets of Older Persons volunteer who was walking the greyhound at the time of the attack, plus the owners of the dog which attacked it, and witnesses.
We intend to complete this process in coming days.
The property of the offending dog has been inspected and deemed to be secure.
No restrictions have been imposed and cannot be imposed until a declaration that a dog is dangerous has been issued. This is only determined once an investigation of an incident has been completed. The owner then has seven days to comply with the muzzle, signage, and collar requirements. Our Rangers have been to the property three times to check that the dog is currently adequately contained.

Question: What street the attack occurred on?

Answer: We can’t provide this information due to maintaining the privacy of those involved.

Question: If rangers were called at the time and if they have caught the offending dog?

Answer: Rangers did attend and have inspected the property of the offending dog to ensure it is secure.

Question: What penalties there will be for the owners?

Answer: This is yet to be determined, until we complete the investigation.

Question: Has this dog been reported before?

Answer: No.
