About the event

Gardening on the verge is a great way to brighten your street, create habitat for local wildlife and make the front of your home more inviting. This workshop introduces the basics of safe and sustainable verge gardening, including choosing suitable plants and understanding your local government’s requirements, such as setback distances and irrigation guidelines. 

We will cover: 

• Benefits of verge gardening 

• Your rights and responsibilities when modifying the verge 

• Street tree regulations 

• Pros and cons of a lawned verge 

• Waterwise plants for low‑maintenance verges 

• Where to find inspiration and plant suppliers. 

You will learn how to make the most of the space in front of your property and create a verge that adds value to your home and supports a healthier, greener neighbourhood. 

Hannah from Budding Concepts will share her knowledge of native plants and practical verge design ideas. 
City of Cockburn residents can also enter the draw for a special garden‑themed door prize.
