About the event

From September to January turtles leave the water to nest. They are vulnerable during this time, so need our help the most.

Running a nine lakes around the City of Cockburn, the Saving Our Snake-necked Turtle (SOSNT) program recruits and trains volunteers to support nesting turtles and protect nests.

Several training sessiosn are available and volunteers only need to attend and complete one session. Participants will be trained to support nesting turtles, protect their nests and use the TurtleSAT App.

These sessions are for community members interested in tracking at one the following lakes:

  • Manning Park Hamilton Hill
  • Market Garden Swamp, Spearwood
  • Boodjar Mooliny, Lake Coogee
  • Yangebup Lake, Yangebup
  • Little Rush Lake, Yangebup
  • Harmony Lake/Eco Park, Atwell
  • Tapper Lake, Atwell

Bibra Lake Training
The Wetlands Conservation Society - Walliabup Wildlife Warriors are hosting training for Bibra Lake. If you wish to track at Bibra Lake, please register for one of the following events.
