Cockburn is a sanctuary for wildflower enthusiasts. A biodiversity hotspot, Cockburn has diverse ecosystems, encompassing bushland, wetlands, and coastal heaths. These natural areas are a haven for unique and vibrant native plants, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth.

Explore our conservation reserves

• Beeliar and Jandakot Regional Parks: Traverse through hundreds of hectares of bushland, home to an array of native flora and fauna. Enjoy walking, cycling, and the tranquility of natural playgrounds.
• Manning Lake Reserve: Located near the coast, this reserve boasts a diverse range of flora from wetland-dependent species to upland vegetation. The limestone ridge and Manning Stairs offer spectacular views and opportunities for birdwatching and wildflower spotting.
• Bibra Lake Reserve: This culturally significant site in the northern part of Cockburn is ideal for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. The Bibra Lake Regional Playground and bird hide enhance the experience of connecting with nature.
• Banksia Eucalypt Woodland Reserve: A must-visit during spring for wildflower enthusiasts. The reserve is a kaleidoscope of native wildflowers, coupled with walking and cycling paths.
• Yangebup and Little Rush Lake Reserves: Known for their significant fauna, these reserves also feature living streams that enhance the local ecosystem, making them perfect for nature walks and birdwatching.
• Denis de Young Reserve: Home to over 300 species of plants and a sanctuary for numerous animal species. Ideal for walking, bird watching, and immersing oneself in the beauty of Banksia Woodland.
• Market Garden Swamps: Enjoy walking and cycling trails, BBQs, and picnic areas in these wetlands, part of the Beeliar Regional Park and a site of indigenous heritage.
