National Water Week Amateur Photo Competition

National Water Week takes place from 15-21 October. This year’s theme is 'Water - the Heart of our Culture'.
Celebrate our connection to this precious resource by entering our amateur photo competition! 

Prizes include a GoPro Hero4 Action Camera (winning entry) and Camera House gift vouchers $250 (second prize) and $150 (third prize).

How to enter:
  • Take a photo that involves any kind of natural or manmade water source within the City of Cockburn (from 'Waves to Wetlands')
  • Write a brief description that relates to this year's theme (25 words or less).
  • Email your photo and brief description to photocompetition@cockburn.wa.gov.au including your name, title of photograph, daytime contact number, and where the photo was taken.
  • Entries close at 12pm on Friday, 6 October 2017.
  • Winners to be notified by Friday, 13 October and announced during National Water Week, 15-21 October 2017.

  1. All photographs must include a natural or man-made water source within the City of Cockburn.

  2. All photographs and a description of how the photo relates to the theme 'Water - the Heart of our Culture' (25 words or less) must be submitted by email to
    photocompetition@cockburn.wa.gov.au and must include the entrant’s name, the title of the photograph, daytime phone number, and location where the photograph was taken.

  3. All photographs submitted must be in JPG format and no greater than 10MB

  4. All photographs submitted become property of the City of Cockburn to use for future promotional purposes

  5. The winner must give permission for their name and their photo description to be published alongside their winning photograph wherever and whenever it is published by the City of Cockburn.

  6. Photographers can submit up to two (2) photographs.

  7. Competition closes Friday 6 October 2017 at 12pm.

  8. To be eligible, entrants must be a resident of the City of Cockburn. The top three finalists will be asked for proof of residency before a winner is notified.

  9. City of Cockburn staff and their immediate relatives are ineligible to take part in this competition.

  10.  The winner will be notified by email and phone by Friday 13 October and asked to arrange a time to collect their prize from the City of Cockburn administration centre or make other arrangements for collection.

  11.  The winning photograph will be announced on the City of Cockburn website and on the City of Cockburn Facebook page after the winner has been notified.

  12.  In the event that we are unable to contact the winner after two days from the time of selecting first place, another entry will be selected from the finalists and winner notified.

  13.  Names of the photographers will be removed from all qualifying submissions before being presented to the panel for judging. The judging panel will consist of three judges, at least one of which is a non-employee of the City of Cockburn. Judges are not eligible to enter the competition.

  14.  The judge’s decision is final, no negotiation or correspondence will be entered into regarding this or any related matter.

  15.  There is one prize (GoPro Hero4 Action Camera) to give away to the first place photographer.
