Leadership Skills Development Workshop

Saturday 12 May 2018 9am-2.30pm

Do you want to develop grassroots leadership skills and capacity? This workshop will support emerging community leaders to influence and motivate positive change in the community.

The following topics will be covered:

Conversation — the Practice of Leadership & Influence

Conversational capacity is vital for anyone seeking to exercise effective leadership. Gain the skills to become more influential in holding and leading effective conversations.

  • The power of language and listening in generating meaningful action
  • Developing clear conversational intention
  • Conversation as a key leadership competence
  • Conversations for Shared Understanding

Authentic and Resilient Leadership

Clarify views on leadership and the personal implications for you, your role(s) and your community/organisation.

  • What is leadership and what is my leadership intention?
  • What is the leadership impact we want to have?
  • What is the leadership our community needs and how can we support this?
  • ‘Generative Leadership’ – how do we create more life-giving relationships?
  • Leadership as learning – becoming a better observer of ourselves, and others, and how we learn

Building Coalitions for Change — Working with your Tribe

Communities and organisations are fundamentally groups of people who interact and help each other to create meaningful lives and achieve an outcome. In this workshop you will explore the notion of ‘tribes’; finding your community group, and approaches to collaboration.

This workshop is for City of Cockburn residents, or community groups that are based in or service the City of Cockurn..
