Healthy Canteen Incentive

The Healthy Canteen Incentive supports incorporated, not-for-profit organisations/associations (sporting clubs) to purchase and provide healthier food options to the City of Cockburn community at sport & recreation venues. In conjunction with the South Metropolitan Health Promotions Service, this incentive is based around the “Traffic Light” food guide recommended by the Fuel-to-Go initiative.

Who is eligible for a Healthy Canteen Incentive?

  • Incorporated and not-for-profit sport or recreation clubs
  • Clubs based or operating within the City of Cockburn under lease or seasonal licence on Council owned property
  • Clubs that have canteen operational approval in contract with the City of Cockburn.

Incentive terms and conditions

  • No additional funding will be provided over the approved application
  • Applicants may only apply once for the incentive
  • Additional information must be attached to the application form (i.e. quote or itemised invoice and initial assessment).
  • Applicants can apply for up-to either $150 (towards healthier food options purchased through the Star Choice Buyers Guide*).
  • Or up-to $300 (towards healthy canteen cooking equipment)
  • An initial assessment will be carried out by the City's Health Promotion Officer before an application can be submitted
  • No retrospective funding will be provided for goods already purchased
  • * Products listed in the traffic light system: Green & Amber may be purchased with incentive. Clubs must adhere to the recommended percentage rate of Green & Amber products. NO Red products may be purchased with incentive funding.

How can I apply for the Healthy Canteen Incentive

Applications open Monday 7 January 2019 for Winter Sporting clubs who operate a canteen.

Applications will close Monday 22 April 2019, 4pm.

Applicants should view the Healthy Canteen Guidelines below and speak to the City's Club Development Officer to assist in determining whether the project  you are seeking support is eligible for funding, before lodging an application.
