Megan Kirwan-Ward is a textile artist now based in Hamilton Hill. She has worked extensively within the arts industry for the last 40 years. An Asialink residency awarded in 2000 developed into a lengthy collaboration with West Sumatran craftswomen. For ten years collections of textile works were exhibited and shown throughout the region. In 2011 an invitation to work with indigenous women in the East Kimberley lead to ongoing workshops and residencies in a number of communities, mostly to do with the development of block printing, dyeing and stitching skills. The works in Show Off are part of a recent concentration on stitch as a mark maker and a means to form layers of texture and colour. They are also a response to time spent in the Kimberley landscape.
