Reopening of services and facilities

In-line with the recent government announcement detailing a phased approach to the easing of restrictions, the City of Cockburn will be re-opening a number of its facilities, buildings, amenities and services, commencing 18 May 2020. To find out what is open now, what is re-opening and when, see below.

NOTE: Community centres: at this stage community facilities will be accessible for regular hirers with bookings that conform to the State's restrictions of less than 20 people. Unfortunately no new hire groups and casual bookings can be supported at this time.

Sporting venues: subject to further clarification from the State Government – from 18 May, we will confirm all sporting club winter applications with clubs with the intent that activities will resume as soon as possible.

NOTE: Cockburn ARC, libraries, community facilities and Cockburn Youth Centre - further restrictions will be removed to allow increased access.  

Please note that many of the events and activities run within the various facilities have been cancelled or postponed. Please visit the facility’s own website, or the City’s events web page.

Your bin and verge collections
The City will continue to provide bin and verge collections.
Henderson Waste Recovery Park
  • The park has re-opened on weekends and has resumed its 7 day a week service for residential and commercial customers (with trucks).
  • Reuse Shop is closed until further notice.
  • No cash is accepted at the weighbridge until further notice. Eftpos is still available.
  • All bin and bulk verge services are operating as usual.
Our beaches, parks and tennis courts
All beaches and City parks remain open.

The public toilets at C. Y. O’Connor Beach, Coogee Beach, the Surf Lifesaving Club and Rollinson Road are all open. Toilets at Port Coogee (Ngarkal Beach) have been closed. All other toilets will be operational by 28 May.

The Coogee Beach swimming pontoons have all been removed.

The tennis courts at Coogee Beach, Len Packham and Anning Park are all open during daylight hours.

Planning and building applications
All planning and building applications will be processed within current timeframes. Online applications are available only.
Council Meetings
All future Council Meetings including the deferred Special Council Meeting are to be live streamed until further notice, as allowed for by recent legislative amendments. 

 

Swimming pool inspections
A swimming pool inspections have been suspended, until further notice.
