All dogs over three months old must be registered and microchipped under the Dog Act 1976 opens in a new window.
Sterilisation is not mandatory, however it is recommended. Contact your vet for information about the benefits of sterilising your dog. All dogs must remain registered for the reminder of their life.
All dog registrations must be renewed before the 1 November each year, on the year that they expire. A Renewal Form will be posted to you before the registration expires.
Cost for UNSTERILISED
If this is the first time you are registering your dog with the City, please complete the Online Dog Registration Application opens in a new window. To complete this application you will need to provide your dog's microchip number, a copy of your dogs Sterilisation Certificate, if applicable and any proof of pension, if applicable.
Please refer to the costs listed above.
Dog owners may be eligible for a partial refund for the cost of registering their dog. If you have sterilised your dog after you paid the registration fee, you may be entitled to a refund of a portion of the registration fee. A completed Refund Application Form opens in a new window must be submitted to be considered for a refund.

If you or your dog's information change, please complete the Change of Animal Status Form opens in a new window so that we may ensure your records are kept up to date.
Please let the City know if any of the follow changes occur:
You have a new address, phone number or email
Your alternate contact person or their number has changed
Your dog has a new owner
Your dog is now sterilised. A signed Sterilisation Certificate is required
You are now a Senior or Pensioner. Proof required
Death of a dog.
