Please note: You cannot attend the Operations Centre to collect your pet without an appointment

Type of Fee Fee ($)
Impound Fee $80
Maintenance and Sustenance Fee $25/ day

After Hours Impound Fee (7pm - 7am) $150

Please note: Your pet cannot be released if it is not microchipped and registered

Microchipping is currently conducted at a vet offsite. Owners need to allow additional time after the pound release appointment to follow the Ranger to the City's chosen vet clinic for implanation.

Unclaimed animals

Cats and dogs are not rehomed directly from the animal pound.

Where possible, unclaimed animals are rehomed by a registered and reputable animal rehoming service who can ensure:

  • The animal will be assessed by a vet, vaccinated and sterilised

  • The animal can be matched to a new owner appropriately

  • The property can be inspected and assessed.

It is rare for animals to be euthanised, unless:

  • It is overly aggressive and behaviour retraining is not an option

  • Health and injuries determine it is the best option for the animal.
