The Environmental Education for Schools Grant is a financial support program for schools within the City of Cockburn. The City's Environmental Education for Schools Grant program financially supports schools to engage environmental and sustainability educators to deliver programs either as incursions or excursions. The City also provides in-kind support and advice to schools applying for grants.
All primary, K-12 and secondary schools are eligible to apply. Applicants must address the following criteria:
Must be a school within the City of Cockburn
A teacher or group of teachers must be nominated as a point of contact and to coordinate the funded activities. The City of Cockburn will provide assistance but will not coordinate the program.
Demonstrate a commitment to incorporating environmental and sustainability principles into the school and local community, through existing school activities and participation in school, local or state programs.
Applications can be made at the Cockburn Smarty Grants website opens in a new window. The funding is available annually, with the grant opening in early February and closing at the end of March. Schools can apply for a maximum of $1000. A list of educators is provided for applicants to choose from, but you can suggest alternative educators if you wish. All applicants will be advised whether their application for funding has been successful or unsuccessful. Once successful you will have until the end of December that year to expend your grant. You must retain all relevant receipts for your activities and acquit your grant online. Any unused funds must be returned. If your project has not been completed in the proposed timeframe, you need to let us know. Extensions may be granted and we may be able to assist you if there are difficulties.
