5G Mobile Phone Networks

Mobile phone carriers are currently upgrading 4G networks around Australia to 5G with many network upgrades already completed.

Mapping showing current and future 5G network coverage can be obtained through the mobile phone carriers own websites.

Towers

Most of the upgrades are to existing mobile phone towers and do not require approval from Local Government.
Proposals for new mobile phone towers generally require planning approval from Local Government.

Health

With regards to concerns about the impact of 5G Mobile Phone Networks on human health, the City is guided by advice from the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA). The following links explain in detail the Federal Government’s position on the matter:
