North Lake/Winterfold Rds improvements

The City of Cockburn's response to Nine News 10 September 2021 in response to a vehicle accident on 9.9.21 at the corner of North Lake and Winterfold roads, Coolbellup

Question: Residents today are calling for council to re-assess the “dangerous” intersection - potentially change to a roundabout or install lights. Will council look into this?

Answer:
Winterfold Road is a boundary road and is jointly managed by the Cities of Melville and Cockburn. Following the fatality late last year, the City Melville submitted a request for funding under the State/Federal Blackspot program, for the installation of traffic signals (traffic lights) at the intersection of Winterfold and North Lake roads.
The City of Cockburn supported the application and agreed to provide a proportional contribution should the Blackspot application be supported.
The submission was based on a Road Safety Audit which recommended the installation of traffic signals. The outcome of the Blackspot funding application will be determined by early 2022.
