Friday 28 November:
Two Cockburn secondary school students have been recognised in the WA Local Government Association’s Showcase in Pixels 2025 art competition.

Secondary School category winner Dustie Sutherland and Secondary School Honourable Mention Ellinah Shiun were among 300 entrants from across WA. Their artwork will be displayed on the digital tower in Yagan Square.       

WA Wildlife says they still can’t pinpoint what has been leaving magpies across Perth and the South West with severe neurological problems.

A long-held dream to have native trees to cool down their local shopping centre’s car park has finally come true for the Coolbellup Community Association Town Team.
The town team successfully applied for a grant from the City of Cockburn’s funding for resident groups, which was launched last year.

Police are investigating an early-morning crash in Lake Coogee that sent a parked Jeep Cherokee smashing into the wall of a home.

Wildlife groups have welcomed an impending speed limit reduction on a local road near wetlands.
The speed limit on Hope Road in Bibra Lake will be reduced from 70km/h to 60km/h in late January after pleas from the City of Cockburn, local residents and the tenant organisations of the nearby Wetlands Precinct, including WA Wildlife and The Wetlands Centre.

Thursday 27 November:
For the second time in a month the City’s engineered fringing reef and erosion reduction trial in North Coogee has been recognised with a prestigious award.

The project won the Collaborative Impact category at the National Growth Areas Alliance 2025 Awards in Canberra on Wednesday night.
The project took out the coastal management category in the 2025 WA Coastal Award for Excellence in October.
 
A crew of US Navy submariners visiting WA has teamed up with the City of Cockburn to help protect beaches from erosion.

Nat Jones from the ABC Radio Perth breakfast show ventured down to Manning Stairs at Manning Park this week to chat with people enjoying the pretty destination and its 192 steps to the top of Manning Ridge. The stairs are known as Cockburn’s Jacob’s Ladder.
The ABC’s Thursday breakfast show was broadcast from Jacob’s Ladder in the City of Perth, hence the reference to our local attraction. Listen from 1:35.

Three American bulldogs have been allowed to stay at a City of Cockburn property after their owners appealed against a council decision and objections against the dogs staying were withdrawn.
The Cockburn council voted 7-2 at its November 11 meeting to allow the dogs aged two, three and six-years-old, that have not been desexed, to be kept at the property.

Banjup rising star Gisella Colletti will return to the spotlight this weekend, joining the Perth Symphony Orchestra for its Electric Symphony spectacular at QV1 Plaza on Saturday, November 29.
The 17-year old Australian Idol finalist, who finished third on the show earlier this year, will be one of the headline performers in the PSO’s grand finale event.

The City of Cockburn will on Thursday consider ramping up how much developers have to pay to build in the area. A special meeting has been called after councillors narrowly voted at their November 11 meeting to reject a staff proposal.
UPDATE: The Elected Members voted to accept the recommendation in the 27 November 2025 Special Council Meeting Agenda which can be viewed on the City’s website.
Updated decisions will be detailed in the Minutes on the City’s website once published in about 10 working days.

Former Collingwood premiership forward/ruck Mason Cox has joined the Fremantle Dockers on a two-year deal following the opening of the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period on Monday 24 November.
