Do you live, work or invest in Cockburn? The City of Cockburn wants to hear from you as it prepares a new strategy to guide future planning and development across our 23 suburbs.
Cockburn is growing and to continue creating the best community for everyone, the City is preparing to finalise the City’s draft Local Planning Strategy (LPS).
The strategy will guide the City’s long-term decision-making for future land use in Cockburn and is legally required under the Planning and Development Act (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.
Interested people have until 4pm on Monday 21 November to make a submission on the draft strategy.
Submission details are available on the City’s community consultation website, Comment on Cockburn, where links to the draft strategy, along with frequently asked questions are available.
The City will hold three community drop-in information sessions in Spearwood, Success and Beeliar on 20 October, 8 November and 10 November. An online information session will be held on 22 October.
The City’s population will expand by 30,000+ by 2030 and an updated Local Planning Strategy is vital for how we use and develop land for transport, housing, industry and space for recreation while protecting the natural landscape.
The draft LPS proposes planning actions for individual suburbs, the environment, infrastructure, centres and commercial areas, industrial areas and the Australian Marine Complex for the next 10 to 15 years.
This final public submission period follows eight community workshops and extensive consultation between 2017 and 2018.
Once public submissions are received and considered alongside the City’s and WA Government’s planning requirements, the draft strategy will be considered for approval by Cockburn Council and the WA Planning Commission.
