About the event

Did you know that Australians generate more plastic waste per capita than any other country in the world – over 130Kg a year/person and over 50% of this is single use plastic!

Around 800,000 tons of textiles are also discarded and landfilled in Australia every year.

Join our “Sewing to go Plastic Free” event and learn how you can make a difference by creating alternatives to plastic products from old clothes and textiles.

We will create shopping bags, produce bags, reusable cutlery pouches and more alternative to plastic packaging, using second-hand materials

Everybody is welcome regardless of your sewing skills.

You will not only help us raise awareness about plastic pollution and textile waste, but you will also meet like-minded community members, and get all your questions about plastics, textile and all rubbish answered, myths busted and leave the event inspired to make a difference.

This event is FREE and all materials are provided but registrations are required!

This event is part of our “Sewing for Sustainability Program” proudly supported by the Government of Western Australia and funded by the Waste Authority – Waste Sorted Program and City of Cockburn.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Free event, but registration is required.
