About the event

Do you want to reduce food waste going to landfill, compost like a pro and make your own fertilizer? But unsure which system to start and where to start?

Join our “Rethinking organic waste” workshop!

This workshop will be delivered by Peg from “Lessen with Peg”! Peg is a waste educator and composting and gardening expert with over 13 years’ experience working in local Government, schools, and wider community.

The workshop will tell you everything there is to know about organic waste including practical demonstrations of building and maintaining all various composting systems (compost bins; Bokashi and worm farming) helping with pest control, inactivity, smelly compost, caring for your worms, making a bokashi bucket and a lot more.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Sustainability is a key strategic value for the city of Cockburn. The city has identified the following vision statement to ensure sustainability of its waste management services: "To lead and support a community that avoids waste generation, reduces environmental impacts and consider the waste that is produced as a valuable resource to be recovered, reused and recycled."
In line with the City's and WA State Government Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy, the City of Cockburn’s priority is to AVOID generating waste. Recovery, reprocessing and recycling come next when waste is unavoidable. Disposal of waste to landfill being the least favourable option.
