Nyungar language singing workshop with Gina and Guy

Add to calendar Thursday 12 November 2020 6.30-8pm

Help us celebrate NAIDOC Week with this Wanjoo (Welcome) singing workshop in Nyungar language.

Three-time winners of the WAMI Indigenous Act of the Year Award, Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse bring a modern take on ancient Aboriginal traditions, merging acoustic guitar with vocals.

They capture the natural rhythms of the Nyungar language, the language of the traditional owners of the South-Western region of Australia. Today, it is spoken by fewer than 400 people.

The workshop will explain the four Balladong principles: Koort (Heart), Moort (Family), Boodja (Land) and Koorlangka (Children/Legacy).

Refreshments will be provided by Bindi Bindi Dreaming
