About the event

Garage Sale Trail is Australia's festival of pre-loved stuff. The festival is dedicated to helping you extend the life of your stuff and find the ultimate pre-loved gem.

In 2020, over 250,000 Australians hosted a garage sale or shopped the Trail. Together, they extended the life of over 1.5 million kgs of stuff, saving these items from landfill and maximising the value of all the energy and resources that goes in to making the stuff we buy. It's the circular economy in action!

For the first time in 2021, Garage Sale Trail will take place over three glorious weekends from the 6 - 21 November allowing even more people to sell, shop and learn about the circular economy.

This event is a great way to make or save money, declutter and meet your neighbours. Last year, residents made a fair bit of pocket money at their garage sale and cleared out their sheds, cupboards and garages in the process.

Households, schools, community groups and local businesses are all invited to host a garage sale or shop the Trail, joining a nationwide movement that sees tonnes of stuff sold and diverted from landfill.

For shoppers, it’s a great opportunity to pick up a bargain (just in time for Christmas), so get those reusable shopping bags ready for the secondhand treasure hunt of your life. With garage sales happening both online and in person, Garage Sale Trail 2020 will bring you new, safe and fun ways to join the Trail and be part of the country’s biggest weekend of money making, planet-saving and treasure-hunting fun.
