About the event

Have your children outgrown their toys? Is your living room full of toys they no longer use or need?

Each year, nearly 27 million toys are thrown away by Australians and end up in landfill.

Let's try to reduce these alarming numbers..

Join us on Saturday 23 March at Atwell's Toy Library for our Community Toy Swap.
All you need to do is bring along "good and playable" condition toys that your kids don’t use anymore and exchange them for toys they will love. Bring whatever you have and take whatever you like, and best of all, it’s FREE.

Any left over toys will be donated to our Cockburn Toy Library and charitable organisations.

For legal and liability reasons, we will ask that you do not swap the following items:

  • button battery toys
  • bicycles with chains
  • baby equipment (car seats, baby chairs, baby bottles etc.) - but of course baby toys are accepted
  • toys that are broken or not is clean and good condition

Our City waste education team is proud to run this event in collaboration with the Cockburn Toy Library. By offering families the alternative of swapping, borrowing toys instead of buying we also decrease the number of toys that end up in landfill and teach our children the act of sharing! Additionally, the library wide range of high quality toys helps bridge the gap for families who do not have access to them, and help families facilitate play for all children. Please feel free to enquire about membership to our Cockburn Toy Library.

We look forward to seeing you and swap a few toys with you!

Event is free, but registration is required.
