The City was successful in having a $484,220 Lotterywest Grant approved in May 2016.

The total project budget is $1M with $484,220 in Lotterywest Grant Funds and $10,000 in other grant funds.

The Cockburn Community Men’s Shed facility will be owned by the City and leased to the Cockburn Community Men’s Shed Incorporated. 

The regional facility will provide a safe environment where men can be productive, feel valued, contribute to their community and connect with friends and social support which ultimately aims to improve Men’s health and wellbeing.

The building will include the following spaces:
  • Woodwork, wood machining area
  • Finishing area 
  • Metalwork/welding area
  • Open plan office area
  • Multi-purpose Community Meeting Room
  • Storage areas
  • Kitchen and requisite toilets, car parking area.
The multi-purpose meeting room will provide a general seminar space and a recreation space. Other community groups including art groups, youth groups, scouts, seniors groups, and disability support groups will also be able to hire and use the facility. 

The facility is planning to open in June 2018.
