Resident Worm Farm & Compost Subsidies

The City of Cockburn offers subsidised worm farms, compost and bokashi bins as part of its new Resident Worm Farm and Compost Subsidy Program.

Minimise your organic waste by recycling it back into your garden or veggie patch! Residents can now get involved in our subsidy scheme and choose from 3 key options to suit your home and family needs.

Your choices are: (only one option per household):

1: Worm Farm:

For a subsidised rate of $85 you will receive a 4-tiered unit, 20kg of castings, 1kg of worms, instruction manual and tailored workshop.  Residents are required to come along to a workshop, bring your $85 in cash and learn how to set-up and use your unit to its maximum efficiency. This component of the subsidy is in partnership with The Worm Shed.

Payment: $85 cash at the workshop.

2: Compost Bin:

Choose your own compost bin that suits your needs and receive a $50 rebate on proof of your receipt and residence in the City of Cockburn. You will be required to come into the City's Administration Building and complete a Rebate form and your rebate will be completed electronically within 6-8 weeks.

3: Bokashi Compost Bin:

For a subsidised rate of $50 you will receive a Bokashi Bin and Bokashi Dust.

Payment Options: Cash; Credit Card; Cheque (over front counter); cheque / credit card via post (with credit card authorisation).

On-going support and advice is available on request. We want your system to work for you and your family with no units or bins hiding behind the shed collecting dust and spider webs!
