You may have noticed these bins popping up across the City...

The City of Cockburn is committed to increasing recycling rates and reducing waste sent to landfill. These new public place recycling bins replace the standard general waste bins you may have seen around the City.

The bins are split into two sections - one for recycling and one for general waste. They're both labelled to show which items should go into which bin. It's easy to remember as they're the same as your yellow and green lidded bins at home.

In the yellow recycling section you can put:

  • All glass (even smashed)
  • All metals
  • All plastics
  • All paper
  • All cardboard

In the green general waste section you can put:

  • Nappies
  • All food scraps and leftovers
  • Dirty BBQ waste
  • Any items contaminated with food (e.g. takeaway containers with food left in them)

Please don't put waste into bags, just place it directly into the bin - this allows it to be processed at the Regional Resource Recovery Centre into recyclable materials and compost and reduces the amount of waste that must be sent to landfill.

The bins are located at:

  • Asquith Park
  • Cockburn Central
  • Port Coogee
  • Beale Park
  • Manning Park
  • Santich Park
  • Success Sporting Facility
  • Tapper Reserve
  • Cockburn Youth Centre and Library
