Legally Riding your off-road Vehicles

Trail bikes and off road vehicles can only be used on private land (with the owner's or occupier's consent). Because of their environmental impact, and to preserve the Citys natural bushland and beaches, Cockburn has no gazetted public areas designated for trail bikes.

Care must be exercised when using trail bikes and off road vehicles. Rangers are required to ensure that the requirements of the relevant legislation are complied with. Off road vehicles must:

  • Be registered under the Control of Vehicles (Off-Road Areas) legislation.
  • Comply with the prescribed safety and noise standards.
  • Not be driven by children under eight years of age. (Other children driving vehicles should be supervised by a responsible adult).
