FIRE PREVENTION 

Firebreaks are due 1 November of each year and must be maintained through to 15 April of the following year. 

For further information please contact Ranger Services 9411 3444 during office hours 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

WITHOUT ANY EXCEPTION,
NO FIRE may be lit on a day when the fire danger is declared as:

VERY HIGH - SEVERE 
EXTREME - CATASTROPHIC

INFORMATION ON PERMITS 

RESTRICTED BURNING TIMES

You will require a permit from the City prior to commencing any burning - Permits are currently available.

Please contact the City to arrange for a permit to burn.

Please refer to the City's Fire Control Order effective from 9 July 2015, for more detailed information.

 

All areas zoned Residential, Commercial or Industrial

No burning allowed at anytime.

Areas zoned Rural and Other Areas

  • Restricted burning period
    1 April to 31 May & 1 October to 30 November (permit required).  
    A permit to burn must be obtained prior to any burning.
  • Unrestricted burning period 1 June to 30 September.
  • Please note, these periods can be varied at the discretion of council.
  • Permit holders are responsible to verify the current dates with the council.

Without any exception, no fire may be lit on a day when the fire danger is declared as very high, extreme, severe or catastrophic.

To determine what the fire danger level is, a person should ring 1196 for information.

If there is any doubt of your responsibility in lighting a fire, of any type, the City of Cockburn should be contacted before lighting.
