The members volunteer their time to organise a variety of annual events, workshops and activities for the benefit of seniors living in Cockburn. They meet once a month to network, exchange information and discuss any relevant issues arising. The RSG reports back bi-monthly to the Regional Community Development Group.
The group's purpose is dedicated to enhancing the lives of older people living in Cockburn. The RSG encourage's the principles of Active Aging to optimise opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age (World Health Organisation, 2002).

The requirement to be part of the RSG is as follows. Application to join the Group can be made through the City of Cockburn and the Regional Senior Group will determine acceptance.
