New Recreational Developments

Hammond Road - Regional Sport and Recreation Facility

The City of Cockburn will be developing a site in Success that will provide regional recreation and community facilities to the local community and is expected to come on line in early 2010. The new sporting facility will be located on 8.5 Ha and will provide facilities for a range of sports including netball, tennis, baseball, softball and space for open playing fields team sports.

It will include a multipurpose facility complete with clubrooms, change rooms, large function area, program room, commercial kitchen, meeting spaces and after school care facilities that will be available for use by the community with an expected population of 5000.

The City is currently seeking funding from both the State and Federal Government to assist in the cost of the development but is expecting to commence works on the site later this year.

Aubin Grove - Recreational Facilities

The proposed new sporting facilities located in Aubin Grove are due to become available for use in 2010 and will see a multipurpose sporting facility development on a 3.2 Ha site. The site will allow for local sporting clubs to operate during the winter and summer seasons and will include facilities to accommodate local clubs and community groups. The City was successful in receiving funds to assist in the development from the Department of Sport and Recreation and is currently at tendering stages for architectural services.

Regional Surf Lifesaving and Multipurpose Community Facility - Coogee Beach

The Coogee Beach Surf Lifesaving Club is currently planning for the development of new multipurpose surf living saving facility to be located on Poore Rd in Coogee. The project is being managed by the club with the support of the City and is expected to become available if plans are approved by 2009/2010.

The new proposed facility will provide additional facilities to support the provision of surf life saving for the region as well as additional facilities that will include, a cafe, gym, function centre, and training space available to the wider community. The development will also see a new beach front designed to allow for better beach access and frontage.
