"Champion Clubs" is an exciting new initiative being trialed by the City of Cockburn as part of their club development scheme, which is jointly funded by the City, Town of Kwinana and the Department of Sport and Recreation.
The 3 parties mentioned see sporting and recreation clubs as an integral part of the community, with club volunteers forming the backbone to many clubs and associations.
The program will continue to run seminars and workshops throughout the year, but will also trial "family sundowners", aimed at encouraging working families to attend.
Stay tuned as "Champion Clubs" in Cockburn is expanded into a fantastic new and exciting program aimed at helping our clubs become more sustainable now and into the future.
Second round of funding now open until March 5th 2010

Re: The Workshop on the 6th of April 2009
"Thanks to you and the City of Cockburn for providing such an informative workshop on Grants and Sponsorship.
The guest speakers provided some very valuable information and a fabulous power point that can be used by all sporting clubs and community groups within the community.
On the night the people who came along to the workshop would have taken away many great ideas which they will be able to utilise within their clubs.
As a volunteer of 2 sporting clubs in the Cockburn area I have received some very valuable information that I will bring back to share with others to obtain grants and sponsorship for our clubs.
This enables us as a club to gain extra consumables and resources for our clubs to support the everyday cost of providing the families of Cockburn with a Spoting Club within the area.
As it is most children's dream to become AFL stars and Australian Cricketers we need to have opportunities within our clubs for all children to come along and have fun, meet friends, participate as a team, gain skills, feel welcome in a safe environment.
As a club we strive to have the best facilities and sporting equipment available to everyone involved within our sporting clubs and gaining sponsorship and grants support our children's future.
We look forward to the support the City of Cockburn provides in future workshops and look forward to more communities and clubs involvement."
Thanks Again!
