Financial Counselling Services

The City of Cockburn has two Financial Counselling Services that provide free and confidential assistance to its residents.

Financial Counsellors aim to assist in the transfer of knowledge and skills to enable people to gain economic power over their lives. Financial Counsellors provide information and options, rather than advice.

The work of the Financial Counsellor can include:

  • Assist you with Consumer Credit issues.
  • Workshop.
  • Dissemination of printed information i.e. pamphlets, budgeting sheets etc.
  • Giving information about policies and laws relating to bills, debts and fines.
  • Informing about government assistance that may be available.
  • Helping to develop money management skills.
  • Referring people to other organisations that may be able to help.
  • Outline consumer rights and responsibilities.
  • Provide you with general information about Bankruptcy.
