The Team

The people of our community who volunteer to make Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch the success it is today, form a network of Teams across the City. Each Team represents a precinct (area) of a suburb and is comprised of people fulfilling three roles:

Suburb Manager

There is one Suburb Manager allocated to a NHW Precinct. These people coordinate between the City's NHW Office and their Precinct Team. Suburb Managers also attend the monthly Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch Suburb Managers Advisory Committee meetings on the first Wednesday of each month from 6.30pm. For more details on the role of the Suburb Manager  download the Suburb Manager Position Description.

Area Coordinator

Suburb Mangers can enlist the assistance of an Area Coordinators to serve as the central contact for an area of the Suburb Manger's Precinct. Area Coordinators fulfill a similar role to Suburb Managers. Attending the monthly Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch Suburb Managers Advisory Committee meetings is not a requirement, the Area Coordinators are invited to every second monthly meeting to enable them to be a full  participant in the Cockburn NHW Program. Area Coordinators conduct their NHW business under the guidance of the Suburb Manager. For more details on the role of the Area Coordinator download the Area Coordinator Position Description.

Street Representative

Street Representatives are the front line of Neighbourhood Watch, these
are the people who communicate directly with the people at home. The
area that a Street Representative looks after can be one street, a block or
a few streets depending on what each person wishes to contribute to the
safety and wellbeing of their neighbourhood. All volunteers are welcomed
and valued for their contribution no matter how big or small.  Street
Representatives are invited to attend every second monthly meeting of
the Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch Suburb Managers Advisory Committee
meetings to ensure they have the opportunity to participate in the decision making process of the Cockburn NHW Program. For more details on the role of the Street Representative download the  Street Representative Position Description.

The Precincts

The City of Cockburn is divided into 39 Neighbourhood Watch Precincts and 3 Police Districts.

Not all Precincts have Cockburn NHW Teams in place and you are encouraged to talk with the City's Community Neighbourhood Watch Officer (NHW) to find out more about how you could contribute to improving life for the area you live in.

The Neighbourhood Watch Precincts and Police Districts map shows which NHW Precincts are represented by Suburb Managers. The "blank/white" areas need Suburb Managers and all areas welcome new Street Representatives.

White areas denote Suburb Manager Needed

The more people that contribute their time to their suburb the less those that already support their community will need to do. Rather than leave the safety of your home to a few, if everyone gives a little bit, a lot more can be accomplished. Help share the responsibility for making your home safer and join the Team today. Remember "In Helping One Another, We Help Ourselves".
