Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch is working to bring people in our City closer together through promoting the value of getting to know your neighbours and being available to support each other in times of need. This is being achieved through a strong partnership between the WA Police, The City of Cockburn and the Community whose goal is to build an even safer, more confident, family friendly community.

Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) receives a high level of support from the City of Cockburn as the valuable contribution of the volunteers is recognised to be vital for our community's wellbeing. The City has established a NHW Office at its Administration Centre and employs a Community Safety Officer (NHW) to support the volunteers in coordinating the many projects and programs of Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch.
The City holds monthly Neighbourhood Watch Suburb Manager Advisory Committe meetings and invites all Area Coordinators and Street Representatives to every second meeting, ensuring all active volunteers are involved in developing projects and programs that will bring benefit to the people of our City as well as support the Police in carrying out their frontline duties.
In 2006 the City of Cockburn embarked on the revitalisation of Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch delivering a program that responded to the needs of the Community, the Police and the active NHW Volunteers. The Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch Tool Kit was created to better inform the community of the projects and programs that are available to those who wish to live in a safer, more confident community.

The focus of Cockburn Neighbourhood Watch is to unite our community by developing closer relationships between neighbours to create supportive communities who are able to take action that enables the Police and Community Security Service to fullfill their roles as protectors of the people.
How many neighbours do you know?
Imagine you were in danger (because of fire, accident or crime) in your own home tonight, if you ran into your street calling for help how many of your neighbours do you feel you could rely on, to come to your aid?
None or maybe some
You probably don't know your neighbours. Are you isolated in your own home? Did you feel uncomfortable that you felt no one was likely to respond? If so, you are not alone, there are many people isolated in their community, they may even be right next door. If you want to do something to change your circumstances contact the Community Safety Officer (NHW) at the City and find out how you can Meet Your Neighbours by having a Party on us.
One or two
If you know one or two people, were these the people that gave you the feeling of safety because you knew they would respond to your needs? If so, does it make sense to you that knowing more of your neighbours will make you feel more secure? By knowing more of your neighbours through Cockburn NHW you could be better informed of any unusual activity in your vicinity through the Community Safety and Crime Alert
Lots of People
You live in a close, connected neighbourhood where you can feel safe because you know you can rely on your neighbours as they can rely on you. You can be better connected by improving your communication capabilities through Cockburn NHW when everyone takes part in the Neighbour Support Program.
