Cockburn Community Development Strategy

The City's Community Development Team is part of the Community Services Unit. 

Our vision is to support and contribute to a community in which people can feel a sense of belonging, connection and contribution; a community that celebrates diversity, embraces difference and supports the most vulnerable; a community in which people feel able to facilitate positive change in their lives and the lives of others.

To do this, our focus is on building the capacities of community organisations to help them continue to provide a range of services and opportunities for the people of Cockburn.

This capacity building approach is guided by three objectives;

  1. Supporting community organisations to become stronger,
  2. Facilitating and supporting networks between key community stakeholders, and
  3. Facilitating better relationships between City officers and community organisations
